Yianni Theodore Kokkinos

This is a recent Collage Portrait features my son, Yianni.  I created a rough and loose background, utilizing lots of color with large brush strokes to create the mood I was after.  I then used a multitude of brushes some wide, some with more detail.  I finished it off with splatter paint and some hand written text.

Phillip Island 1999

This painting is another one of my projects with various techniques and brushes.  Eg. Acrylic, hairy type brushes, palette knife, calligraphy pens, swirly type strokes, small choppy strokes with round camel hair brush, simulating turbulence and wind.  I just basically kept a loose hand and free style strokes thru-out the painting, hoping to achieve a freestyle and expressive artwork.

Collage Portraiture of Anthony Pascoe

This is a painting of my buddy and fellow artist Anthony.  I experimented with a number of types of brushes, paper textures, layers and layers of paint with various types of strokes.  I would have spent about 12-15 hours in total.  This was a fun project with no pressure of a deadline.  This allows me to discover new ways of painting.  Every stroke leads me to a new path.  This approach is very free style and led me to many accidentals.

Elizabeth 'Life Study'

This painting is from a life study and was a very loose and expressive style that I used with very free strokes with little concern for detail, although keeping things in perspective at the same time.  I called this painting 'Reflections'  the rest is up to your own imagination.

Collage Portaiture "Pop Art Style"

This is a recent Collage Portrait that I created it utilizes layers of paper textured patterns.  It is a process of overlapping a variety of images and text and then blending them all together the way you would make a beef stew in a crockpot.  This was alot of fun, with this type of digital painting you have to mix and blend until you are happy with the end result.  It really helps if you have a story to tell or know what it is you are trying to say. A Painting like this can take anywhere from 8-10 hours to complete.  This includes concept time, rough sketches, composition layout and the final painting.

Female Head "Digital Painting"

This Digital Painting which was inspired by the Great Davinci's painting titled, "Female Head - 1508".  I spent alot of time studying Davinci's and Michelangelo's work.  I am a big fan of these Great Masters, there is alot to be learned from studying and observing the way they created their various artworks. This Painting has been printed onto Conservation Rag Paper, it is available upon request.  Sizes available 12x16" and 16x20".

Hermes and Dionysos

This is one of my earlier drawings that I used both pencil and charcoal.  It was a great challenge drawing the drapery and attempting to give it a sculptured feel.  Hermes was the great messenger of the gods and the baby in Hermes' arm is Dionysos who was the son of Zeus, chief of the Olympians, he was best known as the god of wine.

Poseidon

This is a Pencil Drawing that I completed a few years ago of "Poseidon", a famous Ancient Greek God.  I had fun with this drawing, I played around with a variety of different pencils hard and soft leads.  The goal was to try and give it a sculptured look as my source image was that of a statue.   "Poseidon" was the god of the sea, storms, and known as "Earth-Shaker," of earthquakes in Greek Mythology.

Pen Drawing of "Yours Truly 2"

This is another one of my self portraits in pen, I challenged myself to very little amount of pencil lines.  This too is another drawing from a series of crazy photos taken by my buddy Anthony.  We were trying to come up with some of the craziest expressions we could think of.

Pen Drawing 'The Kiss"

On this drawing I tried to keep a real loose hand and didn't worry too much about the detail.  I was quite happy with the results.  It's one of my all time favorite photos.  I plan on making a Painting of it at some point in the future.

Pen Drawing of "Yours Truly 1"

This is a pen drawing 'self portrait' that I finished from a series of photos taken by my buddy Anthony.  Let's just say we were having fun being stupid with the camera and striking some funny poses.  "All in the name of drawing!"

Pen Drawing of 'Anthony Pascoe'

This is a pen drawing of my good friend Anthony Pascoe.  One day we had a bit of a laugh taking different shots of each other, trying to get some good source images to sketch from.  We challenged ourselves to draw in ink only, no pencil or erasing in order to sharpen our skills.  It truly is a challenge,  it really works.   I have noticed that since I have not been using pencil and erasing it forces me to think about each stroke before it touches the paper.  Once it's there, it's too late to undo it.

Check out Anthony's work, if you like funny, you'll love his work!

Before the Mow

This painting is from a photo I took while at my cousins house in Phillip Island. The grass hadn't been cut in ages. Finally.  This Painting has been printed onto Conservation Rag Paper, it is available, it comes in 12x16" and 16x20".

Legend 'Basili Tsitsani'

This drawing was inspired by one of my favorite Greek Bouzouki player's when I first took up playing bouzouki years ago. My father had an old record album and I used the photo to draw this portrait as a tribute to one of the Greatest Legends of Greek Music. The album was really old and faded, this was the best of detail that I was able to get. I was really aiming to achieve an old look do the Legend justice.

Pencil Original of 'Nike of Samothrace'

This is a Pencil Drawing of 'Nike'.  My goal in this project was to try and resemble the drapery as close to life as possible.  I must admit it was truly a challenge.  I enjoyed every minute of it.

Nick Gerkis

This is a Tribute Portrait Painting I did to my uncle Nick who passed away a few years ago.  He was a great man and humanitarian. He loved people and helped anyone or whoever was in need. I decided to use bright vibrant colors which pays tribute to his very colorful life. Those who knew him most certainly can attest to that.  May his soul rest in peace.

Pencil Original of Old Model 'A' Ford

This was a great challenge for me in attempting to show the front window with a crack and the rear also with a crack. The difficult challenge I had was showing the depth at the same time. I really enjoyed doing this drawing, I learned a great deal in the process. I took about 15 to 18 hours in total. There was no hurry since it was just having fun and learning.

Pencil Original of 'Manoli'

This is one of my very early drawings which I set out to finish. I wanted to challenge my self with drawing hair and drapery/material. There's alot to learn, but I was pleased with this drawing. I remember spending about 18 hours or so in finalizing it. I could of probably stopped at about 10 hours, but I wanted to see how far I could take it.
